Departure from Harskirchen
Alsace Bossue, in the regional natural park of the Northern Vosges, is classified as a “European Destinations of ExcelleNce” (EDEN). Alsace Bossue owes its name to its hilly landscape and is one of the most unspoilt areas of the region.
Leaving from Harskirchen: nature, swimming and water sports… The port of Harskirchen is located on a navigation loop joining Luxembourg, Germany and France for a river cruise of about 15 days. The small village of Harskirchen will charm you with its typical Alsatian character, its 18th century mill as well as the baroque church. Your cruise will take you towards the border to Sarreguemines, famous for its pottery (Faience Museum, Garden of Faïence), a rich tourist region which also offers outstanding gourmet experiences. Southbound, you visit Mittersheim and the many ponds created in the middle ages by the monks for fish farming and which are now used to supply water to the Canal des Houillères de la Sarre: here you will find beaches, swimming areas, watersports, cycling... a delight for the active! Arriving at the junction of the Canal des Houillères de la Sarre and the Marne-Rhine Canal, you have two alternatives: westward towards Nancy, or eastward to take the famous boat lift in Arzviller (unique in France) before reaching Saverne (end for one-way cruises from Harskirchen), and finally to Strasbourg, home of the European Parliament. The Alsace/Lorraine region offers a unique journey marrying Nature and Culture! |
